The Story Behind Us

Taiyo Music, Inc. was established in 1962 by a man named Tats Nagashima (1926 - 1999) who was one of the first concert promoters in Japan in terms of international acts.
Almost every single international artist who performed in Japan was promoted by Tats Nagashima. To name a few, they included, Nat King Cole, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Monkees, Peter, Paul & Mary, The Ventures, The Shadows, Cliff Richard, Simon And Garfunkle, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Kiss, Elton John, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, The Eagles, Stevie Wonder, Janet Jackson, U2, ABBA, and Diana Ross.
Because of his unique and versatile career in the music industry (concert promoter, music publisher, record label representative, board of director at JASRAC, board of director at Music Publishers Associations Japan, etc.), Tats Nagashima was recognized as "The Man" in the Japanese music entertainment industry. Although the music publishing business was totally unknown in Japan in the 60's, Tats Nagashima was asked by various artists and managers to represent their catalogues and songs as their sub-publishers for the territory of Japan. For over 40 years of business in the industry, Taiyo Music is recognized as an experienced, reliable, honest, creative and knowledgeable music advisor who acts much more than a music publisher. Tats Nagashima passed away in 1999 but his sprit remains with the staff of his company.
In 2001, Taiyo Music, Inc. started to expand its business to administer Japanese catalogues outside Japan, and also to represent American and European catalogues in Southeast Asia through its network.
Kiyoshi Mizukami who had worked with Tats Nagashima for over 20 years, officially became the successor to Tats' administration in 2002.
In 2003, the Korean pop culture movement started booming in various fields such as tourism, film, music, food, and language, in Japan. Taiyo Music took the leadership in the settlement of problems in collecting royalties derived from DVDs of a monster Korean TV drama with the cooperation of other publishers and JASRAC.

Amazingly enough, this activity caused to generate over 7 million U.S. dollars and, it surely had great influence over the Korean music industry both in Japan and Korea.
In 2006, Taiyo Music, Inc. started to manage Japanese female musicians (guitarists, keyboard players, drummers, percussionists, etc.) who are experienced in working with international artists and musicians.
